About Us Why Tornado?

Pro-Strain Pictures

Tornado’s innovative Pro-Strain is a fence straining system offering key benefits over alternative systems. Pro-Strain was created following extensive feedback from some of the UK’s top agri fencing contractors looking for steel systems with better performance. Pro-Strain’s registered designs can replace traditional wooden strainers that often suffer from short lifespan or contain harmful chemical treatments.

Pro-Strain Benefits

  • Larger, more robust than other steel alternatives
  • Installation easily adapted to specific ground conditions and topography
  • Hot Dip Galvanised steel for longevity, without potentially harmful chemicals
  • Lighter-weight components than timber, so ideal for poor access installations
  • Simple and rapid to install, with fewer tools required, no chainsaws are needed
  • Straining posts and pegs can be driven by machine or manually
  • The adjustment allows the system to be fully pre-loaded, minimising movement when the fence net is then attached and tensioned
  • When used in conjunction with steel intermediate posts like Clipex®, then the whole fence has the benefits of galvanised steel lifespan and can be fully and easily recycled at the end of life
  • Alternatively Pro-Strain can also be used with wooden intermediate posts, thus giving the client confidence in the installation critical end-strainers

It is available as individual kits plus multi-packs of the components.

Clipex and Tornado

Outstanding in its Field

In the UK the use of steel posts for fencing is growing fast due to some concerns over the longevity of various timber treatments, as well as the speed benefits.

Tornado has joined forces with Clipex to bring you a range of posts compatible with Tornado Torus Stiff-Stay nets.

Designed in Australia the Clipex post features patented spring-loaded clips, which align with the horizonal line wires of Tornado Torus Stiff-Stay netting, allowing the netting once tensioned to be simply clipped into place.

Clipex posts are hot dipped galvanised in accordance with British Standards with a coat weight of 600 g/m2. They are manufactured from steel with a tensile strength of 520-620 N/mm² and feature Clipex’s strengthening plate and anti-lift.

A range of posts to suit Livestock, Rail and Deer are available in both Standard 3mm wall thickness and 3.5mm Beefy™. Clipex recommend installation of a Beefy™ post one in every four posts along a fenceline.

The standard configuration for livestock fencing is a ground wire, spaced at 50mm above ground followed by a Torus 8 line, 80cm high R8/80 net. This is topped off by two strands of barbed / plain wire, one spaced at 75mm and the top strand at 150mm. This gives an overall fence height of circa 1.1m.

Tornado Clipex posts are widely available throughout the UK.
