National Leadership Day February 2025

It’s National Leadership Day today!

Today, at Tornado Wire Ltd., we are recognising four of our leaders. They have reflected on the qualities and skills that make them leaders in their roles, such as the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Rebecca Galley, CEO said: “One of the lessons I have learned over 25 years in industry is that success really is all about people.

“I am passionate about leadership. For me, leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about helping people work together, improving business performance, and making work more enjoyable at the same time. When I see people and teams achieve things they didn’t think were possible, those are the proudest moments of my career.”

Malcolm Blackford, Sales Manager added: “With Thursday 20th February being National Leadership day. I was asked to put a few words together about being a leader at Tornado.

“I don’t see myself as a leader, more a coordinator to help guide the commercial team to be successful. As a team we strive to provide the highest quality fencing solutions available. We are all cogs in the machine and all have our part we play. As a team we embrace innovation, teamwork and personal development. I’m proud of my team and the ability to represent them within the senior leadership team.”

Alex Bretherton, Finance Director commented: “I think my role as leader is really to help get the best from the people in my team and the wider organisation. With this in mind, I'm passionate about making Tornado an even better place to work. We have some exciting plans for 2025 which include significant investments in our teams, working environments and systems. As a leader, there is nothing more rewarding than watching individuals and teams fly in the knowledge that you played a small part in their success."

Steve Allard, Operations Director added: “Leading for me is about describing where we are going and then challenging, supporting and inspiring our teams to figure out how to get there. I try to lead by example, do the right thing, and most importantly listen to what my team has to say. The most rewarding thing is to see others succeed – especially when they (or others) thought they couldn’t!”

We are celebrating these leaders today and encouraging the development of future leaders.
